US Tech CEO on how agentic AI is transforming workplaces

Notion’s co-founder and chief executive Ivan Zhao says he believes we are at the very start of the AI revolution. He says it has the ability to quickly elevate workers to higher level roles, removing mundane tasks. But he didn’t comment on the risk of job losses. Ivan Zhao is visiting Sydney from San Francisco, where he runs Notion, an agentic AI office software company he co-founded back in 2013. It now has 100 million users globally and it generates $US 500 million in revenue annually. When it comes to guardrails for agentic AI to stop it from going rogue and making mistakes, he says it comes down to the customer data its accessing and operating with, suggesting good inputs result in good outcomes. There’s a big hope artificial intelligence will lift productivity, but the RBA’s chief economist Sarah Hunter thinks any AI driven improvement to workplace productivity is still a way off in Australia.
